Are the files instant downloads?
Yes. All embroidery designs are delivered digitally after purchase. No physical item will be shipped.
What file formats do you offer?
Available formats may include PES, DST, EXP, JEF, VP3, HUS, XXX, and other machine embroidery formats depending on the design. .DST (Universal/Tajime Embroidery machines) .PES (Brother/Babylock) .JEF (Janome) .EXP (Bernina) .VP3 (Husqvarna/Pfaff)
Why won’t my file open?
Embroidery files require compatible embroidery software or a machine that supports the selected format. These files usually cannot be opened like normal image files.

Will the files work with my machine?
Our files are compatible with many popular embroidery machine brands including Brother, Janome, Bernina, Baby Lock, Singer, and more. Please check your machine’s supported format before purchasing.
Can I resize the designs?
Minor resizing may be possible using embroidery software, but heavy resizing can affect stitch quality and density.
Do I need embroidery software?
In many cases, yes. Embroidery software can help preview, organize, resize, and transfer files to your machine. Many embroidery machines also include basic transfer or editing software from the manufacturer, so you may already have compatible software available depending on your machine model.
Licensing & Usage
Can I sell items made using the designs?
Yes. You may use our embroidery files for personal and commercial projects unless otherwise stated in the product listing. Our embroidery files are intended for personal use and small business embroidery production.Files may not be uploaded to Print-on-Demand platforms, automated fulfillment services, or third-party production systems.
Can I share or resell the files?
No. Digital embroidery files may not be shared, redistributed, resold, or uploaded anywhere online.
Do I need to credit threadmotifs.com?
No attribution is required when using our embroidery designs.
Orders & Support
Do you offer refunds?
Due to the nature of digital downloads, all embroidery file sales are final once files have been accessed or downloaded.
What if my files won’t download?
Contact us with your order number and we’ll help you access your files.

Do I need special software to use these files?
No. You load the file straight onto your machine (via USB, SD card, or direct transfer depending on your machine) and stitch — no design software required unless you want to resize or edit the design first.
Can I resize a design after buying it?
Embroidery files don’t resize like images — shrinking or enlarging beyond roughly 10-15% can distort stitch density and cause thread breaks or gaps. If you need a significantly different size, look for a design already digitized at that size.
What if my machine isn’t listed in the format table?
Contact us with your machine model — most machines fall into one of the six formats above even if the brand isn’t listed here directly.
